On the morning of Tuesday, March 4th, the Palm Beach Post reports that a pedestrian was hit by a crane, then drug an entire block before the crane operator realized that he had hit somebody. The unidentified pedestrian was killed as a result of the accident.

The crane driver had been eastbound on Royal Palm Way and then turned south on S. County Road when he struck the pedestrian. The crane’s driver was en route to a residential job at the corner of S. County and Jungle roads, Capt. Jeff Trylch said.
Construction Accidents
Owners, architects, contractors, and equipment manufacturers can all be held liable for accident’s arising from insufficient safety measures. General contractors, as well as all subcontractors, are responsible for providing appropriate safety provisions that ensure a construction site is reasonably safe.
         They are obligated to:
  • Warn of possible hazards on the site
  • Hire employees who will use caution while working
  • Coordinate job safety
  • Check that all safety specifications are followed
Whenever the death of a person is caused by the wrongful act or negligence of another person, an action may be maintained to recover damages suffered as a result of the death. Actions for wrongful death may arise in a variety of settings. These cases include car, truck or motorcycle accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability and construction accidents. In Florida, the Wrongful Death Act creates a cause of action in the name of the personal representative of the estate of the decedent for the benefit of the "next of kin".
