South Florida Car Accident

The South Florida woman who allegedly tweeted “2 drunk 2 care” before killing two friends in a wrong-way car accident was arrested and booked into Broward County jail Monday.

Kayla Mendoza, a South Florida resident, allegedly had a blood alcohol content of nearly twice the legal limit when she crashed her vehicle head-on into her friends’ Toyota Camry while traveling the wrong way on the Sawgrass Expressway.

Negligent Behavior
Hours before the car accident, Mendoza allegedly tweeted “2 drunk 2 care.” Past tweets include references to drinking, smoking marijuana, and her life as a self-described “Pothead Princess.” Toxicology reports indicate that Mendoza had marijuana in her system at the time of the fatal car accident.

"I don't ever want her to feel the sunshine, ever," Christine Ferrante, whose daughter, Kaitlyn, was killed in the November wreck, told reporters. "I want her to stay locked away forever."

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Mendoza is charged with two counts each of DUI manslaughter, vehicle homicide and driving without a license causing death. Mendoza was booked into Broward County Jail.
